Mail!
The scarf that I got from Iris. (Tausend Dank! :D Ich habe mich so gefreut!!)
I love mail.
Of course, I like emails too (I just love hearing from people), but a letter is just a bit more personal (and more rare). I've never been that great of a letter- or email-writer, though I got a bit better when I moved to India (and ever since India, there are loads of people I can only stay in touch with via letters). However, my first semester at McGill hasn't been too great in terms of letter-writing, so I hope to improve that this year (while improving a million other little things, too). :)
When I first moved into the Annex of Solin Hall, I didn't realise that the Annex has a different street address from the main building, so I gave everyone the main building address (even though I wrote 'The Annex' everywhere). So, I didn't get any mail for a long, long time, until one day Mike, the guy who lives in the apartment with the same number in the main building, came by and dropped off a whole load of mail for Adrienne and me. The guys over there hardly check their mail, so once in a while, I go knock on their door to ask them if they could check their mailbox to see if there's anything for us in there.
I hadn't gone to ask them in a while (not in December or January), so I wrote Mike a message on Facebook asking him whether he'd checked his mail anytime recently. A few hours later, he appeared at our door, with an armful of mail for me. Needless to say, I was thrilled. :)
Mail! Top: a scarf, card and 'Domino Stones' from Iris (Danke!). Middle, left: a letter from Myrthe (in Holland). Middle, right: a card and Swiss calendar from Aunt Roesli (in Switzerland). Bottom: a letter from my little sister in India, Simi.
And today I got another letter from India, this time from Pastor JohnMathew. He and his wife adopted me (his wife speaks no English, but would talk to me in Malayalam all the time. Plus, she cooked me so much good food, and wasn't satisfied until she had stuffed me). I think I put a picture of Marikutty Auntie, Cibin and me on my blog a while ago...
So, I'm very happy at the moment. But now I have to get back to work, so I can take some time later to write lots of letters (I owe so many people letters!). So, I'm signing off for now... :)
